Governor Kavinder Gupta Visits Shri Balaji Gaushala Sansthan at Salasar

Appreciates Efforts of Gaushala Sansthan for serving more than 3000 abondoned cows

Say Serving cow a sacred duty deeply rooted in our civilisational ethos

Urges Parents to Introduce Children to the Tradition of Gau Seva

SALASAR (Rajasthan), July 21: The Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, along with First Lady Smt Bindu Gupta visited Shri Balaji Gaushala Sansthan at Salasar in Rajasthan and appreciated the institution’s exemplary service in the protection, conservation and welfare of cows. He commended the dedicated efforts of Shri Ravishankar Ji and the entire management for running one of the region’s largest gaushalas with commitment, compassion and devotion.

The Governor toured various sections of the Gaushala, interacted with the management and caretakers, and reviewed the facilities available for the cattle. He was informed that the Gaushala is currently providing shelter, food and medical care to more than 3,000 cows that have been abandoned by their owners from different parts of the district. Appreciating this humanitarian initiative, Shri Gupta said that caring for abandoned cattle is a noble service to society and a true reflection of India’s civilisational values.

Addressing those present, the Governor said that Gau Seva has been an integral part of the Sanatan way of life since ancient times. “Our culture teaches us to respect all forms of life, and serving Gau Mata is one of the highest expressions of compassion, gratitude and duty. Gau Seva is not merely a religious practice but a timeless tradition that strengthens the moral fabric of society,” he said.

The Governor remarked that “Gau Seva is Rashtra Seva,” observing that the protection of indigenous cattle contributes significantly to rural development, agricultural prosperity, environmental sustainability and the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage. He said that institutions like Shri Balaji Gaushala Sansthan are playing a vital role in preserving these enduring values while rendering invaluable service to society.

Emphasising the importance of sustainable living, Shri Gupta called for the wider use of eco-friendly products prepared from cow dung and cow urine. He said that organic manure, natural pesticides, bio-gas, incense sticks, diyas and other value-added products not only help protect the environment but also promote natural farming, reduce dependence on chemical-based products and create livelihood opportunities for rural communities, particularly women and self-help groups.

The Governor appreciated Shri Ravishankar Ji for his vision and selfless dedication in developing the Gaushala into a centre of service and care for abandoned cattle. He expressed hope that more individuals, voluntary organisations and social institutions would come forward to support such initiatives, thereby strengthening the collective commitment towards animal welfare, environmental conservation and the preservation of India’s cultural heritage.

The Governor also appealed to parents to encourage their children to visit Gaushalas regularly so that they develop a sense of compassion towards animals and gain an understanding of India’s rich cultural and spiritual traditions. He said that such visits help inculcate values of service, responsibility and respect for nature from an early age, ensuring that the ethos of Gau Seva is passed on to future generations.

The Governor prayed for the continued progress of Shri Balaji Gaushala Sansthan and wished success in its mission of serving and protecting Gau Mata for the welfare of society and the nation.
